FAS Amazon Business Account

FAS has a centralized Amazon Business account for FAS community members who purchase goods from Amazon for Harvard FAS business. FAS Procurement provides in-house support and account management with Amazon.  The FAS Amazon Business account:

  • Eliminates Harvard business Amazon Prime membership fees, enterprise account is paid centrally by FAS
  • Retains all current Amazon Prime membership benefits like free two-day shipping, Prime Day deals, Prime Early Access, and other shipping discounts
  • Provides business volume pricing, bulk pricing and a catalog of available items aligned with University purchasing guidance
  • Access to millions of additional products, available only to Business customers
  • Centralizes tax exemption for states where Harvard is tax exempt (determined by ship-to state
  • Supports Harvard's initiatives for use of local, diverse and sustainable vendors 

You must use a Harvard issued credit card to make purchases on the FAS Amazon Business account. 

 

What do I need to do to join the FAS Amazon Business account?

 

Ask your department administrator if you should join the account before requesting to join. Depending on if your Harvard Official email address is associated to Amazon, you will need to take different steps to join the FAS Amazon Business account when invited. Below are the different scenarios and steps required.

Joining the FAS Amazon Business Account

FAS email address new to Amazon

If your Harvard Official email address is not associated to an Amazon account:

  1. Complete the Amazon Business Account Request form which will route to Adminops_Procurement@fas.harvard.edu to for approval
  2. FAS Procurement will review your request and if approved, emails your Harvard Official email with an invitation to join from business@amazon.com 
  3. Click on the invitation link and follow the prompts to set up your profile on the FAS Amazon Business account

NOTE:  There may be a chance that you may not remember setting up an Amazon account with your Harvard Official email address or someone set one up for you in the past. If your Harvard Official email address is associated with an Amazon account and you should reference the FAS email address is associated to an Amazon.com (retail) account instructions below.

FAS email address is associated with Amazon.com consumer account

After clicking to join button within the email sent from business@amazon.com, you will be required to login to your existing retail account where you will need to select what type of purchases you were making on this retail Amazon.com account (either personal or FAS business purchases).  This will determine whether that Amazon.com account is kept separate from the FAS Amazon Business account or migrated to the FAS Amazon Business account. 

FOR FAS BUSINESS PURCHASES: If the Amazon.com account that you have associated to your Harvard Official email address is only used for FAS purchases or if you haven’t used it for purchasing, but just for browsing for FAS, please refer to the reference guide.

FOR PERSONAL PURCHASES: If the Amazon.com account that you have associated with your Harvard Official email address is only used for personal purchases (not for FAS business), you will be guided to update the email address associated with that account to a personal email account (i.e. - gmail, yahoo, hotmail) that is not currently associated with an Amazon account. This will allow you to join the FAS Amazon Business account with a new profile using your Harvard Official email address.

If you don’t know the password to this account, please run through the "Forgot Password" process by clicking the link on the login screen or the reference guide. Do not attempt to guess your password as this will lock you out of your account.

NOTE:  If you have any issues with the self-service password reset, please contact Amazon Business Customer Service at 1-888-281-3847 to have them help you reset your password. Amazon Business Customer Service will ask you security questions to verify that you are the owner of the Amazon account you are calling Amazon Business about before they are able to help you.

Why do I need to use my Harvard Official email?

Q:  Why do I need to use my Harvard Official email to register for the FAS Amazon Business account?

A:  The FAS Amazon Business account uses your HarvardKey credentials to login.  You will need to use your Harvard Official email in order to be allowed to login using Single Sign On through Harvard Key.

What if I do not know my password?

Q: When I access the FAS Amazon Business account for the first time, I am prompted to log in with a password.  What if I do not know my password?

A: You are asked to enter a password because you have an existing Amazon account with your Harvard Official email address. If you cannot remember the password, please click the “forgot password” link to reset. If you are still having trouble resetting the password, please call Amazon Business Customer Service at 1-888-281-3847Once your password has been reset, you can then refer to scenario 2 from above to guide you in joining the FAS Amazon Business account. 

What type of purchases are on my existing Amazon account?

Q: What if I don’t know what type of purchasing I have done on my existing Amazon account?

A: If you have made any recent purchases on your existing Amazon account, the first time you login to this account after clicking “Shop Store” from Amazon Business, it will show you a snapshot of your most recent orders so that you can determine what type of purchasing has been done on that account.

How do I correct my name on my account?

Q: What if the name on my existing Amazon account needs to be corrected?

A: Either before or after you join the FAS Amazon Business account, you can simply change your name on your profile.  Please refer to the Profile Name Change Guide (linked here)
